Ground Branch V1.0 Hotfix 2.5 patches VOIP, IR lasers, and audio
Build Update #067, labeled V1.0 Hotfix 2.5, is out now for Ground Branch as a small follow-up patch. It fixes a handful of issues:
- Reverted a VOIP settings change that was causing audio to cut out.
- Fixed IR lasers and illuminators being turned off for clients on listen servers (Host Game) when the host toggles NVG off.
- Fixed selector/magazine audio muting after looking at the watch.
- Adjusted blend times between Check Watch and Fire Mode (fire selector switch) animations.
One thing to note: this patch does not include the tweaks to AI behaviors and settings mentioned in Hotfix 2 just yet.
GROUND BRANCH V1.0 Hotfix 2: AI awareness, armor changes, and more
Build Update #066 is out now for GROUND BRANCH, bringing another round of fixes for the V1.0 release. The hotfix lands today, July 30, and includes a mix of AI behavior changes, attachment fixes, and crash cleanup.
The team also notes that verifying your game files has improved performance for some players, particularly when using PiP scopes. If you need a refresher, here are the Steam instructions.
AI and gameplay changes
- AI can now hear each other's gunfire. They'll alert when other AI open fire, and can learn of the player's presence via proximity to each other.
- Fixed AI Turn Rate being overridden at the behavior tree level, so per-difficulty settings now apply as intended.
- Soft armor (Body Armor and combos) now allows penetration by rifle rounds on first strike.
- The target zone for door handle breaching is more generous, making it easier to shoot the handle out.
Attachment, audio, and UI fixes
- Light and laser attachments now remain ON when swapping to another inventory item, and can be turned off afterwards.
- Fixed the Docter II red dot reticle sitting too high in the glass.
- Added a new Dialogue volume slider (Settings › Audio) for radio calls from NPCs like Hawk and Forge.
- Updated how the server web banner renders the banner image.
- First pass on the VOIP crash when using in-game voice in online matches.
- Fixed numerous Kythera AI-related crashes.
Map and mode cleanup
- Updated navmesh on Arena's stairs to help AI stop getting stuck.
- Cleaned up navmesh near the cave and streams on Creek.
- Hospital rooms that weren't playing the correct gunshot tails have been updated.
- Removed an unreachable bomb from Rig in Defuse mode.
- Fixed Team Elimination counting teamkills towards the overall score.
The developers say the next hotfix is already in the works, with tweaks to AI behaviors and settings for a more rounded experience across the four main difficulties.
GROUND BRANCH V1.0 hotfix slashes install size to 39.4 GB
BlackFoot Studio’s tactical shooter delivers its first post-launch patch, Build Update #065: V1.0 Hotfix 1, addressing urgent issues and cutting the installed size from nearly 100 GB to 39.4 GB through repackaging and texture optimizations. The update also disables the in-game DX12 selection (crash-prone) and introduces a new controller configuration.
Smaller install and DX12 changes
The dramatic size reduction (more than 60%) is the headline feature, achieved by changing packaging settings and revising textures. This may also improve performance on some systems.
The DX12 launch prompt has been temporarily removed because it caused crashes. Players can still force DX12 by right-clicking GROUND BRANCH > Properties… and adding the launch argument -dx12 — used at their own discretion.
Gameplay and AI adjustments
Maximum weapon sway is reduced by approximately 30%. Damage values for all body parts have been tweaked: shots to non-vital parts and extremities are less lethal (closer to extremity = less damage).
Lights and lasers now turn off automatically when switching items, fixing the issue where they couldn’t be deactivated if left on before the swap. Several minor bugs are also fixed, including the prone unarmed turn bug and target-distance buttons staying active at shooting ranges.
AI accuracy and reaction times have been adjusted, and the AI aiming bone is tweaked to more reliably hit the torso, making body armor more effective. Hostage AI view of dead bodies is reworked to reduce navigation stucks.
Map, visual, and audio fixes
- Outpost: Added missing floor collision, breaching sockets, and a generator that powers lights and screens.
- Airbase: Breaker switch for the 747 now also turns off fuselage lights; removed faulty Defuse (Plane Only) mode.
- Hospital: Added blocking volumes and a new breaker switch for lights.
- City: Fixed out-of-bounds insertion point and a bomb that couldn’t be defused (Defuse mode).
- Border: Missing collision and door meshlinks fixed.
- PvE quick missions now properly record rounds.
Visual fixes include a corrected US flag texture, cutscene cleanup on Outpost, reduced clipping for captain and civilian clothing, fixed Combat Shirt arm clipping, VFX trash particles, decal draw distance improvements, and a floating Docter II red dot sight. The Wz.88 ammo mesh and F88A2 reload animations are corrected.
Audio: Fixed wall sound leakage on Hospital and Border.
