Operation: Harsh Doorstop joins KeepGamingHonest partnership

Operation: Harsh Doorstop has officially partnered with KeepGamingHonest, a US consumer-protection movement the studio says it will hold itself — and its partners — accountable to. The announcement landed on 11 October 2026.

What KeepGamingHonest is

According to the studio, KeepGamingHonest works aggressively to hold influencers, game studios and marketing agencies in the games industry accountable to violations of consumer protection laws in the United States. The movement was built by a group of content creators and game studios, and Operation: Harsh Doorstop founder Connor Hill is among them.

The studio says it watched headline after headline about influencers scamming American consumers, studios rug-pulling players, and corporations facing no consequences for fraud — and decided to do its part.

The studio's existing consumer-first stance

Operation: Harsh Doorstop is described as a 100% American-owned game studio with a stated commitment to a consumer-first product that respects United States consumer protection laws and supports consumer-first movements enforcing those regulations.

The team also says it is a strong believer in the StopKillingGames initiative, and that this is why the game includes features letting players keep playing and supporting it long after the studio ceases to exist.

What changes going forward

The studio will hold itself to the laws and regulations that protect American consumers, and says it will hold its partners to that same standard as well.

Players who want to join the movement can sign the petition at keepgaminghonest.com. More Operation: Harsh Doorstop development updates are promised soon.

Operation: Harsh Doorstop adds thermal imaging, night vision to armored vehicles

Operation: Harsh Doorstop's upcoming update will completely overhaul armored vehicles with new sound effects and handling, plus thermal imaging and night vision. It also adds Armored and Airborne platoons and a vehicle claiming system. The new features are already in the closed beta.

Armored vehicles

The armored-vehicle overhaul includes thermal imaging and night vision for appropriate vehicles. After adding night vision for modern infantry equipment kits, the team realized expanding the system to support thermal imaging in vehicles would not require a significant modification. The team has also been experimenting with new particle physics for destroyed vehicles, including dynamic fire effects and more.

Platoons

Platoons are squad categories that let players choose the type of role their squad will fulfill. Until now, Operation: Harsh Doorstop has had only an infantry platoon; the update adds Armored and Airborne platoons. Each platoon comes with access to unique equipment that players need to operate specific types of vehicles.

The platoon concept dates back more than eight years to a Project Reality server, where Battlefield 2 modification limits prevented the idea. As the system expands, the team is interested in adding specialized roles to each platoon category, including JTAC roles for Airborne platoons and JFSS for Armored platoons. The system will allow more creative factions, especially when commander roles are implemented; commander roles will be covered in the next development blog.

Vehicle claiming

The platoon feature includes a claiming system for vehicles. Squad leaders and squad members can claim vehicles for their squad. Squad leaders can manage whether a vehicle is locked to squad members only, or un-claim a vehicle to transfer ownership to a friendly squad.

Claiming will also include requirements for operating heavy vehicles, including crewmen or pilot equipment requirements for crewed vehicles and rules requiring players to be in squads with the required number of squad members to operate a vehicle.

Closed beta access

To play the update's features, players can pick up the supporter edition on Steam and join multiplayer playtests. All supporter edition owners can get a Steam key to the multiplayer playtest through the official website if they don't already have one.

Founder Connor "Bluedrake42" Hill calls the update "probably the largest update to Operation: Harsh Doorstop that we've ever launched."

Who is the creator of this server AMERICA LATINA BRASIL?
Hello! I'm a developer, the server caught my attention because of the low ping, it's really great to play on, but there's the issue that there aren't many players due to a lack of updates, no legal weapons, and things with Brazilian themes. I'd like to get in touch with the creator to discuss this. I'm building a Brazilian community and it would be great to talk to the creator.

Hello, I had a server where the ping was lower for me and my friends, but it let me down. I left the server active after installing some random base maps. For mods, I don't know how to do this yet, sorry.
