Green Planet is a full Serious Sam Fusion jungle campaign with SS4 enemies
Serious Sam Fusion 2017 (beta) has a new featured community mod: Green Planet, a full-length custom campaign from creator Alfeos that puts Sam in a lush, unexplored jungle world positioned as a continuation of The Second Encounter. It’s available now on the Workshop page.
What makes Green Planet special
- Classic run-and-gun pacing with exploration, secrets, and large arena fights.
- Jungle visuals inspired by Shaanti and Khmer Empire architecture, built with custom and Serious Sam: The Last Hope assets.
- A custom soundtrack provided by composer Senmuth (Valery Androsov).
- Enemy cameos ported from Serious Sam 4 and Siberian Mayhem.
- Save cannonballs and heavy ammo for the finale — the campaign ends with an original custom boss fight built around constant movement and wave management.
- Co-op support is included, after extra months of netcode and Lua scripting polish.
From contest entry to first release
Alfeos calls Green Planet his first publicly released Serious Sam map, though he has been modding the series for years. It was built for a SeriousSite.ru mapping contest, drawing on Croteam’s early design concepts where Sam would stop at several planets on the road to Mental, with the Green Planet as the first stop.
The Last Hope assets were originally optimized for VR, so many models had to be fixed manually in Blender: missing backfaces, low-res textures, and even a lack of basic doors in the asset pack. The project also uses pieces from Scans Factory and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Alfeos’ wife acted as “Executive Producer” and co-developer, handling playtesting, music selection, and keeping the project moving.
What’s next
Alfeos is pausing modding for now to focus on family, but he plans to update his Serious Sam 4 Enemies pack and is working on a sequel to Green Planet. Sam hasn’t escaped the planet just yet.
