A Nights Haunting: Source adds Chapter 2: The Arrival and a paid DLC
A Nights Haunting: Source's latest update continues the single-player campaign with Chapter 2: The Arrival, picking up after Chapter 1: The Awakening. Its new mechanics are a bit less claustrophobic than the opening level's, but just as complicated to play through, and the map flows directly out of the first one. Achievements will be added to the map later.
The update also adds a few new texture materials and swaps the pine tree model from its snow-covered version to the green version. The model may eventually be decompiled and recompiled to offer both textures through the .qc file.
Beyond the story content, the update establishes the game's official DLC pipeline, set up through Steam Partnership Platform integration for its Source SDK Base 2013 multiplayer mod. The first release from that pipeline is the Face LIFT Fan-E-PACK, a $0.99 DLC that adds new intro videos and a main menu background. The game checks for the DLC on boot and mounts its content for players who own it. The pack was tested as both a .vpk and loose files, so future DLC can ship in either format. Valve was involved in building, reviewing, and releasing the DLC.
The Face LIFT Fan-E-PACK is available on Steam.
