Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Patch 1.2 drops tomorrow; roadmap soon

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam's first Command Post community update confirms a busy week: Patch 1.2 arrives tomorrow, Aug 21, with hundreds of bug fixes, including fixes for the NVA Tunnel server crashes, the airborne "swimming" exploit, and stuck HUD/Medic markers.

Confirmed Patch 1.2 fixes

  • Server crashes: Stability data improved right after Hotfix 1, with roughly half as many clients losing connection, before returning to launch levels. The team traced a major cause to multiple events happening while players travel through NVA Tunnels; the fix is in Patch 1.2.
  • Air swimming: Players could enter the swimming state above ground and get onto rooftops. Using community reproduction steps, the team fixed the known methods.
  • Persistent HUD and Medic markers: Stuck on-screen elements are fixed.

Under investigation

  • AMD stability: Crashes from some AMD GPU players are being investigated with AMD, including possible Unreal Engine-level changes. FSR 4.1 is currently targeted for Update 1.5.
  • Tutorial progress: Tutorials sometimes fail to save completion, blocking Squad Leader or Commander. The team is asking for recent reports via Support tickets.
  • Aim Assist and crossplay: Both remain hot topics, especially on PC. Aim Assist is interacting with small non-collision foliage in ways physics checks can't resolve, so a more complex fix is needed. The Dev Update from 14 August explains the current implementation.
  • VOIP robotic voices: Distorted Proximity Chat is being worked on with the external VOIP partner at Epic Games. A short-term workaround is in progress while Epic works on a permanent fix.
  • Console visual quality: Foliage shimmer, pixelation, and clarity issues will get small improvements in Patch 1.2, with more optimization ongoing to raise rendering resolution while holding 60 FPS.

What's next

Patch 1.2 isn't the end; further patches are expected, and Community Feedback is slated to become a weekly update.

  • The M14 and SKS arrive in September, with Update 1.5 set as the first new weapon drop.
  • The Hell Let Loose: Vietnam roadmap for the rest of 2026 is due later this week, covering new maps, vehicles, features, and more weapons.
