Echoes of Elysium patch v0.20.1 fixes broken island terrain and crashes

Team Loric has shipped Echoes of Elysium v0.20.1, a minor patch aimed at long-running bugs and recent performance trouble. It arrived on August 27, 2026, and targets a particularly old issue: Arid, Headlands, and Shattered Shoals sometimes had missing terrain, breaking collision and textures. The devs say those islands are now "safe to dock on and explore."

Fixes and performance work

  • Island terrain: Arid, Headlands, and Shattered Shoals now display proper textures and collision, resolving the long-reported missing-terrain bug.
  • Windmill roofs: A collision error on windmill roofs that trapped players and their items has been fixed.
  • Heron airships: Removed the unnecessary SailsActive animator mesh check, since Heron sails never close. This should improve stability and performance.
  • OnDockAirship: Unnecessary backend noise is gone.
  • Voxel engine: Fixed a rare crash.
  • Miscellaneous: Added new diagnostic tools for crash reporting, debug, and other backend fixes.

Known issues

  • The Deckgun keeps playing its charging SFX when fired without ammo.
  • The Heron Airship Deckgun has a missing string.
  • The "Create Planks to build a proper hull" hint stays on screen after the task is complete.
  • Aetherscope and Aetherloom pop-up messages are unclear.
  • Some players are seeing longer world generation; the team is keeping an eye on it in the coming weeks.

Roadmap

The next update on the short-term roadmap is v0.21.0, which adds Controller Support. The roadmap is subject to change.
