Soulmask's Beyond Gravity update lands August 31 with three new Masks
Soulmask's major Shifting Sands DLC update, "Beyond Gravity," arrives August 31, adding the Burning Highland region, a new Holy Ruins dungeon, three Masks, and the DLC's endgame conclusion. To mark the launch, the base game is 35% off and the Shifting Sands DLC is 20% off, both at historic lows, with an extra 10% off the [Base Game + DLC + Soundtrack] bundle. A free demo also drops August 31 and carries saves into the full game.
The Burning Highland and its final pyramid
The new region is a scorched land once used to drive failed rebels into exile, now home to deadly beasts and entrenched Sand Bandits. Its centerpiece is the final pyramid, once protected by the Death Sandstorm until the battle between the Betrayer, Desert Overlord Set, and the Falcon King. A Sand Bandit chief has claimed it as a lair, guarded by a colossal warship. Players can don a Mask, fly through crossing cannon fire, land directly on the ship, and bring it down from within.
A dungeon beneath the Highland
Burning Highland Holy Ruins is the last of the Holy Ruins, an inverted pyramid housing a vast teleportation network. To reach its deepest point, players must conquer four dungeons to the east, south, west, and north, activating their mechanisms to open the central portal. At the bottom, a mechanical being waits on a throne, attacking with weapons formed from its steel seat while lethal poison gas fills the arena. Defeating her grants a Mask with no record in any other ruin, pulsing with power from the same source as the Anti-Gravity Engine.
The three new Masks
- Shadow Hunter — The Mask of Bastet grants shadow and agility: more nimble dodges, phantom cats summoned to assist attacks during Mimicry, and easier charge replenishment by hunting creatures.
- Ruler of the Barren Sands — The Mask of Set commands sandstorms. Nearby enemies take continuous damage; during Mimicry, lower HP increases attack speed and sandstorm damage, and you can summon a sandstorm covering an entire area.
- Unnamed gravity Mask — Its innate gravity wave weakens nearby enemies. During Mimicry, it enables rapid short-range spatial jumps and can lift every enemy in a camp into the air.
The final secret and your own floating island
Once you have collected 14 Divine Crystal Fragments, you can restore the Sun God's remains into the "Core Module" at a mysterious stone platform. Activating it at the lowest level of the Floating Island reveals the true "Sun God": the Central Core, the source controlling all anti-gravity phenomena and strange climates across Shifting Sands. The final battle throws gravity and space into chaos, with waves of attacks and formidable holographic enemies.
Beyond the story, anti-gravity technology unlocks Floating Foundations for building a Floating Island of your own, plus the Water Vapor Collector, a large midair device that keeps your clan supplied with water without a well or river. After September, the team says it will continue optimizing Soulmask and strengthening its guidance systems.
Demo and Steam fest
On August 31, the free demo opens with the classic rainforest map, covering the core loop from recruiting tribesmen to challenging tribal chiefs — and demo saves carry directly into the full version. Soulmask is also taking part in Steam's PvE Survival Crafting Fest on September 1.
