Rising World 0.9.3 adds animal taming, real ocean waves

Update 0.9.3 for Rising World is live as of August 31, 2026. The patch, "Animal Feeding and Taming, better caves and much more!," brings animal feeding and taming, a cave generation overhaul, actual ocean waves, survival blueprint costs, a server permission editor, and many quality-of-life fixes. Existing worlds go through a one-time conversion on first load so the new caves can appear.

Animals can now be fed, tamed, and petted

Animals get hungry over time and look visibly emaciated as starvation sets in; domestic animals can starve to death, while wild ones don't. Food can be handed to them directly or dropped on the ground, and hungry animals will walk toward you if you hold something they like. Some animals also graze, so an enclosure's meadow can end up eaten bare. The journal (J) now has an Animal Husbandry section with feeding and breeding rules—useful because some foods are toxic to certain animals.

Feeding animals, preferably their favorite food, tames domestic livestock such as pigs, sheep, cows, goats, and horses. All domestic animals, deer, and moose can be fed, and regular feeding and petting builds trust in animals, including wolves. Wolves take extra caution: hold meat, move slowly, and feed them repeatedly. Once tamed, animals stop being aggressive. Pet any non-aggressive animal by putting your item away (H) and holding the right mouse button, but don't hit them—tamed animals will eventually lose trust. Breeding only works when animals are full and have been fed recently, and cows now give milk for much longer after pregnancy.

Caves, waves, and using items while riding

Cave generation now uses noise-based layouts instead of predictable tunnels. Caves get bigger with depth, can include huge chambers, stalagmites and stalactites, and surface crevices surrounded by boulders lead down into them. A few short near-surface tunnels remain as cave entrances. Deep water-filled caves stay unchanged, while the climbing rope now adapts to terrain and lets you lower yourself slowly. New caves work in existing worlds via the one-time conversion, and the world converter also accepts saves created or last played after November 2022.

The ocean gets 3D Gerstner waves tied to weather and wind. Boat physics now react to them, and storm travel carries a greater risk of capsizing. Underwater effects and god rays were updated, while non-infinite water levels out and flows more smoothly. You can turn the waves and water effects off for performance, or enable an infinite ocean option that renders sea to the horizon—not world-accurate, but a nicer view. Many items, including weapons, compass/map, and food, can now be used while riding a mount or driving a boat, though that feature is still a work in progress.

Survival blueprints, permissions, and everything else

Blueprints in Survival now require resources, shown at the blueprint table and on the HUD. If your inventory fills up, chests placed near the build site are used automatically; the mechanic can be disabled in multiplayer. The blueprint export tool now groups by texture, writes .mtl files, cuts vertex count, and terrain blueprints load faster.

Server admins get an experimental built-in permission editor. You'll need the "savepermissions" permission under commands, then press ESC and use the red edit button beside Permissions to create, modify, or delete group and area permissions.

Also in 0.9.3: creative-mode teleport points with names and screenshots (tp/teleport), a new F5 terrain raise/lower tool, resizable/movable F9 areas, in-game statistics, lemon trees, smoother terrain with the rake and terrain tools, toggleable item and plant outlines, transparent and slippery ice, optional terrain tessellation with a performance impact, brighter lights, a PauseWhenEmpty multiplayer setting enabled by default, and a Unity engine update to 6000.3.22f1. There are also fixes for dynamite and grenades, NPCs stuck on terrain, ghost terrain cells (plus a fixghostcells command), and more. NPC pathfinding and food spoilage are expected in the next update.
