Icarus Week 248 sends Scoria Deep Ore Veins to every map

The Week 248 patch for Icarus — changelog 3.0.26.156677-rel-DangerousHorizons — makes Scoria Deep Ore Veins available on all maps instead of keeping them exclusive to Prometheus. New worlds spawn the veins naturally across prospects and outposts, while existing prospects can use the Deep Cycler to generate them and gain access to the associated technology.

Ghost Fires cleaned up on the client

The update also takes aim at a long-standing issue the team calls “Ghost Fires”: a fire could look like it was still burning on a client after the server had already extinguished it. Icarus simulates fire through heat transfer and thermodynamics rather than plain visuals, running the simulation on both server and client. When the replication system skipped an intermediate object state, clients could get stuck showing active flames.

This patch applies a cosmetic-only fix that cleans up lingering fire particles on clients. The developers say a full fix for the underlying desynchronisation is planned for the coming weeks.

Next week: Workshop Power Banks

Next week’s update adds a purchasable Power Bank to the orbital workshop. Like the workshop’s hydrazine and oil canisters, it arrives pre-charged for recharging tools on the go.

Other fixes in 3.0.26.156677

Forest Wolves now keep their textures and fur correctly after being skinned, Gold and Sulfur icons are back to their originals because they were easier to tell apart, and using a taxidermy knife on a Piglet now rewards the Piglet Head instead of the Piglet Trophy. Sun and Moon position updates also run every 50ms instead of 200ms for smoother shadow movement at sunrise and sunset, alongside a cosmetic radiation-bar fix and a pass of quest and loot corrections.
