Icarus Week 254 overhauls fishing and adds Great Hunt spawn toggle
Icarus's Week 254 update, v3.0.32.158743-rel-DangerousHorizons, adds a major fishing overhaul and an optional World Settings toggle that can stop Great Hunt creature and den spawns after a campaign is completed. The patch also introduces fish-based recipes with unique bonuses, a reworked Fishing UI, and aquarium and fish-mount Comfort bonuses tied to catch quality.
Fish Paste opens new crafting routes
Fish Paste is a new intermediate item crafted at the Mortar and Pestle with any fish. It opens alternative recipes for Organic Resin, Organic Oil (previously Vegetable Oil), Concrete, Limestone, and Vitamins. The update also adds recipes for Poultice Bandages and Fish Paste Lures.
New items include Dried Fish Chunks, Fish Chowder, Freshwater Tartare, Pickled Saltwater Fish, Fish & Chips, Fish Roll, Fish Fillet Sandwich, Coconut Curry, Fish Platter, and Fish Feast, with new fish dishes spread across various tech tiers.
Fishing UI and aquarium Comfort
The Fishing UI has been overhauled to match the standard UI used across Icarus, with cleaner navigation for catches and fishing options. The quality and rarity of fish displayed in aquariums and on fish mounts now affect the Comfort bonus those items provide when you sleep. A high-quality rare fish can reach the maximum 50% bonus, while base coziness values for high-tier aquariums have been tuned moderately down.
Great Hunt spawn setting
The optional setting is available in the World Settings menu for each prospect and can be accessed by the host or an admin. Like Arachnophobia Mode, it can disable Great Hunt creature and den spawns once the campaign is complete. After the boss is defeated, it prevents Quarrite, Rimetusk, and Garganutan spawns on their respective maps, making those maps safer to explore.
Fixes and next week's Rifle Turret
Notable fixes include more consistent fire-particle cleanup for clients on dedicated servers; the Sandbox Mission now requiring a Fabricator instead of a Machining Bench, with clearer descriptions that the build must be inside the cave; wild Kiwi mass reduced from 500 to 100; three T4 SMG skeletal meshes updated with the correct edge harness and normal map bake; and bread dough now placeable in iceboxes, fridges, and the deep freeze.
Other changes include Spelunking mission text casing, music balance, Elysium's desert haze, collision/nav updates to stop animals walking through foliage, Wooden Armor Stand physics and interaction-camera changes, the Scoria Brick half-wall icon, and typo fixes.
The next update adds the Rifle Turret, an automated defense with improved performance over the entry-level Pistol turret. It accepts 7.62 rounds and offers greater accuracy.
The Dangerous Horizons expansion and Complete the Set bundle are available on Steam.
