SCUM July Update 1.3.2.0.134527 Brings New Tutorial, Mutant Animals, and Master Hunter Quests
The July "Into the Wild" update for SCUM is now live. It introduces the TEC1 Conditioning Facility tutorial, mutant deer, boar, and wolves, and the Master Hunter with three tiers of quests and exclusive rewards. The update also includes reworked Island tutorials, animal behaviour improvements, official server player cap increased to 80, and several quality-of-life features, fixes, and balance changes.
"Into the Wild" will continue through August and September, with more hunting, cooking, food systems, and fishing updates planned.
TEC1 Conditioning Facility
A new standalone tutorial experience accessible from the main menu via the "TUTORIAL" button. The facility contains a series of practical exercises covering movement, stealth, crafting, tools, weapons, puppet combat, injury treatment, and combat. Players can repeat any stage.
The previous intro cinematic has been removed. Deena has new voice and dialogue throughout TEC1, and her Island tutorial dialogue has been rewritten. The tutorial does not start automatically when creating a prisoner.
Island Tutorials
The in-game tutorial system on the Island has been updated. Players can now choose from Survival, Crafting, Metabolism, Economy, Base Building, and Hunting in any order. Objectives are more flexible; the system recognizes progress if steps are already completed. Improved tracking and highlighting help identify relevant items and locations. Tutorials can be abandoned and restarted without losing access. The old character creation prompt for automatic tutorial start is removed.
Mutant Animals and Master Hunter
Mutant deer, boar, and wolves appear in specific locations across the Island. They are tougher than normal variants and are the focus of new Master Hunter quests.
The Master Hunter is located in the Hunter's Grotto. Players must first complete one regular Hunter quest to unlock the Master Hunter's quest book, which contains three increasingly dangerous tiers:
- Tier 1: Mutant deer
- Tier 2: Mutant boars
- Tier 3: Mutant wolves
Quests may require specific weapons or returning intact hides, meat, antlers, and heads. The condition of delivered items matters.
Rewards
- Tier 1: Hunter's Recurve Bow, Hunting Quiver, Ridgeline Bait Feeder, Deer Skull Charm, Deer Skull Trophy, Master Hunter Trousers.
- Tier 2: Hunter Blackhawk Crossbow, Hunter Monocular, Seasoned Hunter Skinning Knife, Deer Skull Chandelier, Boar Skull Charm, Boar Skull Trophy, Master Hunter Boots.
- Tier 3: Blackline Compound Bow, Master's Skinning Knife, Hunter Double Bed, Wolf Skull Charm, Wolf Skull Trophy, Master Hunter Field Jacket.
Physical item rewards are delivered to the trader depot on quest completion. Completing a quest also permanently unlocks that item for purchase from the Hunter. Base-building recipes are added directly to the base-building menu.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Drop All: Empty clothing, containers, and vehicles into vicinity in one action.
- Pick Up All: Collect all items from vicinity at once. Trader depots also have a Pick Up All button.
- Refreshed tabs for Crafting, Cooking, and Base Building with a visual style matching the updated Inventory UI.
- Redesigned taunt menu separates base-game and DLC taunts into two categories.
Official Server Player Cap
Official servers now support up to 80 players, up from 64.
Apex Predator Pack (Separate DLC)
The Apex Predator Pack is now available, containing exclusive gear, weapons, charms, base-building items, character customization options, emotes, and selfie poses.
Known Issues
The game may crash during the transition to the Island when using DLSS Balanced or Performance mode with DirectX 11. Workaround: switch to DirectX 12, select a different DLSS preset, or use another upscaling method.

Key fixes include: animals taking too little damage from firearms; bears surviving M82 hits; prey ignoring predator sounds; herbivores not fleeing predators; animal carcasses becoming too damaged after high-caliber hits; various UI fixes (blurry icon, overlapping buttons, incorrect icons, missing health bars, etc.); base building blueprint snapping issues; server hang when dragging airplane door blueprint; gardens not buildable on fresh databases; vehicles failing to spawn in Sandbox; items remaining after tractor carriage destruction; Barba not spawning; weapon animation replication issues; quest delivery bug in Samobor; level design issues (invisible water, locked doors, floating items, etc.); fire rings and bonfires destroyed when lighting cigarettes; eating while running interrupting movement; safe zone plane kill exploit; character deformation bugs; DLC base building elements spawnable without owning the DLC; and more.
