Snow sheds on British Columbia's mountain highways
One of the most recognizable structures is the Great Bear Snow Shed on the famous Coquihalla Highway, a concrete landmark that protects drivers from avalanches and falling snow. Further east, several snow sheds line the Trans-Canada Highway (TC-1) through Glacier National Park, sheltering the road amid towering mountains and dense forests.
Tunnels on the Trans-Canada near Hope
The winding stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway near Hope includes a collection of tunnels carved through the mountainsides:
