DayZ Badlands expansion out now with Nasdara and full 1.30 wipe
DayZ Badlands is out now, launching October 15, 2026 with a 10% discount to about $22.50. The expansion arrives alongside Update 1.30, which adds motorbikes to the base game and brings a full wipe across all platforms. The DayZ Badlands store page is live, and owners of the base game can also get Badlands and DayZ Frostline in the Hot & Cool Bundle.
Nasdara is a 267 km² desert map
The centerpiece of Badlands is Nasdara, a new map built specifically for DayZ. At 267 km², it’s the largest terrain the developers have ever worked on for DayZ. It moves from jagged mountains to sprawling desert plains, with large evacuation zones, abandoned oil fields, and crumbling military bases. Nasdara’s arid spring completes DayZ’s cycle of seasons, following autumn in Chernarus, summer in Livonia, and winter in Sakhal.
Sandstorms, silicosis, and nearly 5,000 rebuildable structures
Nasdara’s sun and wind create new survival threats: overexposure to the ever-present sun, gusts that can build into large sandstorms, and the new medical threats heatstroke and silicosis. Water is scarce, and players need it not only to stay hydrated but to cool down and rinse sand from their eyes after a sandstorm. Shelter matters, whether under palm trees or in rebuilt bases. Nearly 5,000 rebuildable structures are scattered across the land, including wells and irrigation tunnels that open up PvP and collaboration opportunities—such as rebuilding a well with a stranger for the whole server or creating bases with secret entrances.
Motorbikes, Morse code bunkers, and new loot
Update 1.30 adds motorbikes to DayZ, along with ragdoll physics for motorbike crashes. The developers updated animation systems to support the feature, changes they believe will also benefit modders. Bikes can help with a new loot-finding loop: Morse code gameplay. Players should keep a personal radio close, as transmissions carry coordinates and access codes to urban bunkers. Decode the messages, find the entrances, and claim the rewards. Badlands also adds face wraps, dust goggles, lightweight clothing, and desert camouflage, plus weapons from the classic Lee-Enfield to modern SCR firearms. Food and snacks are available locally, or players can hunt wildlife including mouflons, desert monitors, and territorial dogs that guard their former owners’ grounds alongside the infected.
Update 1.30 wipes all platforms
Update 1.30 is bringing motorbikes, select firearms and assets with reworked skins, quality-of-life improvements, and more to the base game. It will mark a fresh start for everyone, with a full wipe across all platforms. Patch notes are available for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The 1.30 Experimental article has more on the additions.
What's next for DayZ Badlands
The developers say optimization work on Nasdara across all platforms won’t end at release. They’ll continue monitoring performance and refining DayZ Badlands, DayZ Frostline, and the base game terrains using collected data and player feedback. A first 1.30 patch is aimed at Steam experimental tomorrow, focused on issues affecting modders on Steam; the stable patch on all platforms will follow at a later date. Seasonal events on select terrains are also planned for the coming months.
